Grab a Spiked Slush and Play Mini-Golf at Bushwick Country Club

Bushwick Country Club is an unassuming neighborhood bar with a welcoming feel not always found in Williamsburg. It is not a proper country club, nor is it located in Bushwick, as its name would suggest. It is, however, the only bar in this area for miles that has a legitimate miniature golf course in its back yard. It’s a small set of make-shift holes pinned against a concrete wall that, I promise you, will become more enticing to try as your intake of drinks climbs throughout the night. There’s a nice list of “Miniature Golf Rules” too, posted in back to answer your questions while you try to putt an orange golf ball through the PBR label-wrapped windmill house. Everyone gets one mulligan on this radically-improvised course.

BCC prides itself as the creator of thePickleback,” which is a shot of Old Crow bourbon washed down with a shot of brine from a jar of McClure’s spicy dill pickles. Invented in 2006, its recipe has been carried over to the UK, and is also popular in some bars in London and Aberdeen, Scotland. At the bar, there is also a steady flow of delicious Jim Beam and Coke slushies to go along with its full liquor selection. A shot of Old Crow and a tall boy PBR is $6. Popular among patrons is the sweet tea vodka slushy, too. And everyone gets free cheese puffs with their drinks. It is a sweet deal to consider in between your intense games of Big Buck Hunter.

The bar gets crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, so when it gets a little too claustrophobic or the rock tune from the jukebox starts making you too sentimental, you can easily walk out to the backyard area to catch a breather, sit down and watch drunk patrons attempt to play mini-golf. This is a great bar to go to when you are traveling and want to go to a watering hole with a healthy supply of good energy. As a perfect way to remember the time that you spent sharing laughs and drinks at this bar, there is also a photo booth in the back of the room to use for three dollars, which pumps out four instant memories to take home with you. Even on a packed night the line to take photos moves fast.

The truth is that you could go to any bar in the Williamsburg area and have a good time drinking. But if you are looking to go to a warmhearted, open and non-pretentious joint filled with easygoing people, then consider starting or ending your night out at Bushwick Country Club.
