Trendy Fashion For a Fraction of the Price

Living in Los Angeles can be a constant battle between staying trendy and fashionable, all the while refraining from spending your entire paycheck on clothing. People travel from all over the world to shop on Melrose, Rodeo Drive, and Sunset Boulevard. Wasteland Clothing, an adorable second-hand store with designer brands and thrifty price tags, has three locations in the Los Angeles area (Santa Monica, Studio City, and West Hollywood), but my favorite is located on Melrose Ave.

Street parking is always accessible, a strong deciding factor in where people go in LA, and the staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Last week, I was extended the invitation to go backstage and meet Kanye West after his concert. As I accepted the offer, I began frantically asking, “What does one wear to meet Kayne?!” (without dropping thousands of dollars). Wasteland was my first choice, and I was able to leave with a Robert Rodriquez dress, original tag intact ($325.00) for $55.00. Score!

There are a wide variety of true vintage and second-hand designer clothing, as well as brand new styles to be sifted through. Their shoe collection alone is worth exploring, for both men and women. Next time you’re in Los Angeles or on Melrose Avenue, make sure to stop in and stock up!
